You built a life that works. Some part of you has gone quiet inside it.
Three days and three nights on Salt Spring Island, in a secluded farmhouse, with room to hear what you've been too busy to notice.
August 22-25 | Salt Spring Island, BC | Six Places
why people come
the cost of relentless doing
For most of your life, momentum has been an asset. You learned to carry responsibility, perform under pressure, and keep moving when other people stopped. It worked. The results are real and they belong to you.
What nobody tells you is that the same momentum can quietly carry you past yourself. The days fill. The pace never breaks. Some people name it as burnout, and that is part of it. Underneath the tiredness is usually something harder to say plainly, a sense that the life you've built and the person living it have drifted slightly out of step.
This is for people who are not in crisis and do not need fixing. You have simply gone a long time without stopping, and you are starting to suspect that the next thing you need is not more input. It is space, and enough of it to be honest.
The three days
what happens here
Saturday is for arriving and settling. You check in mid-afternoon to a secluded farmhouse, with nothing to manage once you're here. The day asks nothing of you beyond slowing down. After a farm-to-table meal, the group gathers for a preparation circle, the first time the six of you sit together and set the tone for the days ahead.
Sunday is the centre of the retreat. It opens with breathwork and gives over to a full day of deeper inner inquiry, unhurried and quiet, with experienced guides holding the structure so you don't have to. For those who choose it, this includes a guided, supported session in an altered state, entered carefully and with full preparation. Nobody is moved faster than they're ready to go. What you do with the day is your own.
Monday is for integration, the work of carrying what surfaced on Sunday back into your own ground. It begins with movement, then time in the heat and cold at a spa set in the middle of an arbutus forest, which does more to clear the head than most things that promise to. The afternoon is yours, with rest and optional activities. The retreat closes that evening with a Death Cafe, an open and facilitated conversation about mortality and what actually matters. It sounds heavier than it is. It tends to leave people lighter and clearer about the few things worth their attention.
Tuesday, you leave after breakfast. The work is not to have reached a conclusion. It is to have heard yourself clearly for the first time in a while, and to carry that back into the life you return to.
before you arrive
how it works
1
schedule an intake call
A confidential conversation to talk through fit and readiness. This is honest in both directions. Not everyone who reaches out is at the right point for this, and the call is where we find that out together.
2
prepare for the journey
Two one-to-one sessions with Michael and one group session before you arrive. These are the reason participants come ready rather than raw, with a clear sense of what they're walking into.
3
arrive fully supported
Make your way to Salt Spring Island on the Saturday. From the moment you arrive, the logistics disappear and everything is handled. You only have to be present.
who you’re with
Michael Tan
Thirty years in senior leadership taught Michael how to perform under pressure and carry responsibility for others. The inner work came later, and not by choice. He guides as a peer who has been on both sides of this, the outward success and the harder reckoning underneath it, not as someone standing above the experience directing it.
Hayley Flynn
Hayley leads the breathwork and the movement session, and serves as a second guide through Sunday's deeper inner inquiry. Her work is grounded and unforced, built for people who are sceptical of anything that asks them to perform a feeling. She makes space for the body to do what the mind has been talking over.

if it’s time
a question worth sitting with
You don't need to have it figured out before you reach out. Most people who come here don't. They simply reach a point where the quiet has gotten loud enough to listen to, and they decide to give it three days of their attention. If that's where you are, this is a good place to do it.
FAQs
What does “deeper inner work” mean? It’s a single day designed for opening and inward attention - a safe, quiet setting, experienced facilitation, and time afterward to integrate what arises. We outline the flow during your intro call and 1:1 preparation.
Why do I need to meet with my guide two times and as a group? Because this is a carefully held retreat, it’s helpful to arrive with open intentions whatever they may be. The short 1:1 conversations make the experience fit you and ensure the week unfolds calmly and safely. The group sessions ensures you don’t arrive as strangers.
Do you serve alcohol? No. For everyone’s comfort and depth of experience, we ask that alcohol and recreational cannabis be avoided throughout the trip. Thanks for helping us keep the space clear and steady.
